In recognition of her campus involvement, professionalism, community service and impressive grades, Jacqueline Klotzbach was announced the Outstanding Senior for the Class of 2010.

"It's an honor to be named Outstanding Senior for the Class of 2010. I think it's a testament to my hard work as a student and my dedication over the past four years," Klotzbach said.

Klotzbach was nominated by her fellow students and received a great letter of recommendation from her public relations Professor Patricia Swann early March when the application for the award was being advertised via e-mail, the UC day sheet and posters. An e-mail to staff and faculty members was also sent out asking them for nominees. In April, the Utica College members of the National Alumni Council along with Ken Kelly interviewed Klotzbach along with other candidates. There are more than 20 members of the National Alumni Council but only four interviewed the candidates.

"I was happy to have the opportunity to interview for the award. I knew the other candidate was going to give a great interview so I was definitely somewhat nervous about the outcome," Klotzbach said.

Mark Kovacs, director of alumni and parent relations was present when Klotzbach did her interview. He stated that she seemed very professional and polished as if she has been out of college for 10 years.

"I am very proud of her accomplishments. She is a very positive individual to represent the class of 2010," Kovacs said.

The criteria that qualifies a student to be an outstanding senior is to participate in the activities of the college through campus government, clubs, organizations, sports and many more. The student has to also do community service, achieve a goal despite the personal hardship that comes along with it, maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher and also be nominated for the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award. All these achievements reflected on Klotzbach during her interview and made her stand out from all her peers.
