On Wednesday, Jan. 27, candidate Edward Stigall met with a panel that included Vice President for Enrollment Management Patrick Quinn. Quinn began the session by asking Stigall what he could bring to the table for UC.
"I think I have the ability to work with others to create a positive environment," Stigall said. He added that he does not build communities but works to enhance and nurture them.
Stigall said his last position was with New York Institute of Technology, where he had expected to serve as director once the school added residence halls to its campus. A difference in visions, however, Stigall noted, led to his termination.
Stigall was asked how he would handle a problem or crisis that might come his way as director, and he used a football analogy to illustrate his method - you have to get in the end zone no matter how you struggle to get there.
"We might hobble across it, but we still need to get across it," he said. "I believe in handling grace under pressure."
Stigall also suggested ways to alleviate the tripling situation in freshman dorms by giving families ample notice and spreading out triples evenly among buildings.

Jonathan Bono, a candidate for the Director of Residence Life, has been involved with college residence life administratively for about 13 years and was involved with residence life even since his undergraduate days.
As an undergraduate at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Penn., Bono was a member of the Residence Hall Association, New Student Orientation, and was a Resident Assistant among other activities.
In 2001, Bono graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. with a master's of arts in student development and counseling. As a student there, he began his professional career as a Resident Director. He spent two years at SUNY Cortland as a Residence Hall Director, and then moved to Miami, Fla. where he worked as a Residence Coordinator at the University of Miami. His most recent position was Director of Residential Life and Housing at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. He is also part of several college residence committees and organizations.
