Lisa Greenway, freshman, is among many UC students who are not happy about The Bogies' closing.
"I miss Bogies, it was bigger and better than Tropical," Greenway said.
The most recent nightclub to be under investigation is Tropical Delight, another popular spot for local college students.
According to the OD, Tropical was the scene of a brawl among college students on the night of Jan. 23. The club was holding a "Back to School" party that was originally scheduled to take place at The Bogie.
Police reports said a huge fight broke out shortly after 2 AM and "over 100 bar-goers poured into the Utica streets." Cops were called from both the Oneida and New Hartford county departments and it took a number of them to finally break up the fight. Students who attended stated it was almost "college vs. college" at Tropical that night.
To date, five students were charged, three from the Utica area, one from Brooklyn, and another from the Bronx. The OD reported that no weapons founded at the scene, but further investigation is still being conducted.
The nightclub is no longer admitting partygoers who are under 21 years old.
Dahlene Amayn, a UC senior, is one of many who are not pleased with the change.
"I care very much," Amayn said. "It was the only good party spot."
Senior Martine Samson agreed.
"I miss the idea of going out clubbing, and having fun with my friends, Samson said. "We can't do it anymore."

I don't like the way they emphasize where the "alleged" perpetrators were from,... "three from Utica, one from Brooklyn, one from The Bronx". Honestly, they make it sound like It's obvious that there was going to be trouble from these five because, well, they were from Utica,Bklyn, n The Bronx. (Continued…)

I doesn't matter where the people are from, knowing that they were local or from out of town is important. in journalism everyone is identified regardless of color, age, or location. (Continued…)
