Every year, The Super Bowl is watched by millions of people across the United States regardless of the teams playing.
Every second Sunday in February, Americans sit down not only to watch great football and commercials, but to also watch the halftime show.

In the past, the halftime show has been a product of many different producers. Disney was last seen in 2000 when the Rams played the Titans. MTV's produced the halftime show was in 2004 when the Panthers played the Patriots and Janet Jackson had her famous "wardrobe malfunction."

For the past three years, White Cherry Entertainment has partnered with Don Misher Productions to put on some decent shows that entertain the audience while they enjoy hot wings and pizza.

This year, for the first time, White Cherry Entertainment will produce the Super Bowl halftime by itself. According to nfl.com, the 2010 halftime show will feature The Who.

The Who is an English rock band that first formed in England in 1964. The band originally consisted of vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. The Who had hit albums such as My Generation, Who's Next and The Kids Are Alright and gained more popularity after their performance at Woodstock. However, the group's success was darkened by Moon's death in 1978 and Entwistle's death in 2002.

Today, the band is made of two original members, Daltrey and Townshend, and keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick and drummer Zak Starkey.

Although the past years have shown top acts such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as well as Prince, some members in the audience just are not pleased.
Danielle Conover, senior, believes that some of the past halftime shows are good, but some are very boring. She also believes that The Who is not the best choice for the general audience.

"I listen to a wide range of music," Conover said. "I don't think I have ever heard of them. Plus I'm a huge football fan and I would want to see someone more popular."

Ann Rancourt, junior, has enjoyed some of the past performance during the halftime show, but also thinks that more popular artists would be a better fit for the viewing audience.

"I'm not sure how popular The Who is," Rancourt said. "But I am huge country music fan. From my knowledge, of who's popular, I'd add a country artist to the halftime show since I believe a country artist hasn't been on the halftime show."

Rancourt would pick Kenny Chesney to play the Super Bowl Half-time Show because she thinks he knows how to entertain large audiences.

Jamie Hagen, a freshman at Mohawk Valley Community College, is satisfied with the lineup for this year's Half-time show.

"It's good music," Hagen said. "You could have music that is popular and pertains to our age group, or you can have classic music that everyone can tolerate. I think it went up hill since MTV got the boot."
