A lot of people are very intrigued by the pledging process, which is the initiating step that any member must go through before becoming a brother or a sister.

Let me assure you this: There is no hazing in this process. Pledging has been stereotyped negatively due to the media and exaggerating facts that people have heard. These misconceptions must be stopped right now.

I believe I can say this on behalf of all Greeks with a huge emphasis: we do not haze, but rather we provide a learning process for the ones that truly believe in our values.

What you might have heard or seen about any pledging process is not accurate. Why would we want to embarrass you, humiliate you, or beat you up? Eventually, we want you to be our brothers and sisters. Hurting you would only hurt us in the long run.
The only thing that we want you to do is to learn about us, about our history, our traditions, our standards, our characteristics, and most importantly, our values.

So don't be afraid of pledging, but seek the chance to enhance it and better yourself. If you still need a reason to join us, think about your future. Being a Greek will carry on with you after college, after you get your master's degree, your Ph.D., after you find a job, after you get married, and have children of your own. Once you're a Greek, you're a Greek for life.

Most of the Greeks on campus are national organizations with chapters all over America. It doesn't matter where you were initiated, you would still be their brothers and sisters.
That is the beauty of being a Greek. No matter if you travel from East to West or from North to South, your family, your brothers and sisters, are always there for you. We have a great abundance of connections that will assist you in your career and social networks.

We build your characters so that you can become innovators and leaders. Some quick facts that I can give you are: 80% of CEOs, managers and executives in Fortune 500 are Greeks; all but 3 United States President since 1825 are fraternity men and 71% of people listed in Who's Who in America are Greeks.

Take my fraternity, for example. Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton Hotels, Howard Schultz, the founder and CEO of Starbucks, Robert Nardelli, CEO of the Home Depot, Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, and a lot of other chairmen, senators, congressmen, court justices are all brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

We also have some famous brothers like Elvis Presley, Terry Bradshaw and Paul Wright Jr. And those are just a very few examples from one Greek organization. Are you still hesitating to make your decision?

Go Greek today, make a better tomorrow for yourself.
