Audience Enjoys Comedian Performance at Mojoz

On Nov. 14, Mojoz at Utica College played host to stand-up comedian Jamie Lissow, who is known for his appearances on television shows such as Star Search, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NBC's Last Comic Standing and Comedy Central's Premium Blend.
About 25 people were in attendance at 7:00 p.m. when Paul Lehmann, otherwise known by his DJ name "Fat Old Man" for his work at WPNR 90.7's "Fat Old Man Show," stepped up to the microphone to warm the crowd up and give away free Utica College Pioneer t-shirts to people in the audience who had the best jokes.
People called out their jokes from their seats. One of the winning audience members' jokes included, "Why did the homeless man vote for Obama? Because he wanted change." With the crowd starting to liven up a bit, Lissow took the stage.
Lissow started his set by asking the students what the Utica College mascot was, and continued to refer back to Trax throughout his one-hour gig. Lissow cracked several jokes while comparing Trax to his old college's mascot, a pilgrim.
Lissow used colorful jokes about mathematics majors, wrestling, natives of Alabama, and Dollar Stores, and said that he passed several Dollar Stores on his way to the show. Lissow even poked fun at the small turnout by asking the audience how many students attend Utica College. One person responded, "3600."
"I thought you were going to say 36," Lissow said. "Like this is everyone."
Lissow said that he has a newborn baby boy named Charlie whom is 3 weeks old.
"I wanted a boy so bad, but don't get me wrong I like girls," Lissow said. "My wife is a girl."
Lissow's set also included stories such as the reaction he received from a Starbucks cashier when he once ordered a "large" coffee instead of a "Venti."
The audience was invited to join in and Lissow asked if anyone was a work-out fanatic.
"No matter what city I'm in, there's always the same people in there," Lissow said. "There's always one guy that just figured out the quickest way to look really big without actually training with weights is to squeeze his body into the smallest shirt he can possibly find. What's that shirt say? 'Daddy's Little Princess?'"
