Construction Management used to be a major at UC but it became inactive when the professors left and students became disinterested. It has been voted back and there are eight students in the program. There is one professor as of now, with two classes being offered this semester.
Sophomore Nicole Bouteiller thinks the program is going to take off. "I think it's going good places," she said. "Dr. Dubbelde has high expectations for the program and us." Dr. Dubbelde expects the students to dress up everyday for class, and on some days the men have to wear ties.
UC added the Risk Management and Insurance major to meet the demand for the field. The program is focused on measuring risk and applying the information to working with the Government and non-profit agencies. The new building will help the program get off its feet.
Biochemistry, Geoscience, and Gerontology have been included in the UC academic programs because Biology and Chemistry weren't enough. Students wanted to be able to specialize in these subjects, so UC answered by adding them.
A minor in Creative Writing was also introduced due to a high demand for the program.
