You may have walked by the Career Services office, which is located upstairs in Strebel Hall in room 206, and wonder exactly what it is that they do. Stephen R. Cantine, Director of Career Services, put it simply: "Career Services seeks to assist students to achieve their goals beyond Utica College." Whether your mission is to continue your education at grad school or to find a job, Career Services is there to help.

One example of the types of services provided by Career Services is the Volunteer Fair, which was held in the Strebel Student Center on September 10 from 3:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The purpose of the Volunteer Fair was to establish contacts for students and enable them to do fieldwork in areas like psychology and child life. Some of the organizations that were represented at the fair include: the Boy Scouts of America, AIDS Community Awareness, the House of Good Shepherd, and various non-profit organizations.

Career Services has many important and exciting events planned for the near future. The Syracuse University Career Fair, scheduled for September 26, is one of its largest. The career fair will be held at the Carrier Dome from 1:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., and will have close to 160 employers from around the country searching for young talent. Career Services is providing transportation for Utica College students who wish to attend the event.

Another event planned by Career Services is the Kaplan "Test Drive," which will be held at noon on October 6 in the Donahue Auditorium. This event is designed to give prospective grad students a chance to take practice grad school exams, like the LSAT, in order to prepare them for graduate school.

Career Services does more than just set up events. They also provide resume critiques, mock job interviews, job searches, as well as scholarship programs. Career Services also invites any student who has an idea for a program or service that might help other students succeed to contact their office. Career Services is always excited to work with students to achieve their goals and dreams after attending Utica College. Career Services may be contacted at scantine@utica.edu.
