Senior Ray Bryant of the Utica College men's basketball team was named to the DIII News All-American Honorable Mention list in the April edition of the monthly newsletter highlighting Division III men's basketball.

Bryant, the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and D3hoops.com East Region First Team member, guided the Pioneers to a 19-7 overall record and their second straight appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament Finals. He averaged 15.9 points and a career-best 9.6 rebounds per game this season. He shot 47 percent from the floor, while posting a career-best 75 assists.

The former NABC Division III All-American was a two-time E8 Player of the Week selection this season and was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for the week ending Jan. 28, 2007.

Bryant, a 6-foot-5 205-pound forward, was a two-time All-Conference First Team member and closed out his two year career with 913 points and 453 rebounds.
Stephanie Price and senior classmate Deana Wiegand, of the nationally-ranked No. 10 UC women's hockey team were named to the Division III American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American East teams. Wiegand earned First Team status, while Price earned Second Team recognition.

Wiegand, the college's all-time scoring leader with 170 career points (74 goals, 96 assists), is making her first appearance on the First Team. A few weeks ago she was named to the ECAC Women's West All-Conference First Team for the third time in her career.

She closed out the season ranked second nationally in points per game (1.88) after totaling 19 goals and 30 assists in 26 contests. She led the nation in assists per game (1.15). Wiegand also led the team in penalty minutes (60). The former ECAC Women's West Rookie of the Year was named the conference player of the week on two occasions this past season.

Price, a senior captain, earned second team honors after posting a career-best 46 points on 22 goals and 24 assists. The ECAC Women's West Player of the Year ended the season ranked third nationally in goals per game (.85) and power play goals (nine). She ranked fourth nationally in points per game (1.77) and game-winning goals (five), while ranking sixth in the country in short handed goals (three).

She closed out her career as a Pioneer with 134 points on 54 goals and 80 assists. This past season Price was named the ECAC West Player of the Week twice and was honored in the highly popular "Faces in the Crowd" section of "Sports Illustrated" after tallying four goals in the Pioneers' 6-2 win over visiting New England College January 6, 2007.

The Pioneers finished the season 18-5-3 overall and 10-2-2 in the conference. They earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament but fell 1-0 to No. 2 Elmira College in the first round. UC has made its conference tournament in all six seasons of existence.

Ava Thomas of the UC women's basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com East Region Second Team. Thomas, who was recently named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, ended her three seasons as a Pioneer with 1,112 career points and 831 rebounds.

Thomas, who was also named to the Empire 8 All-Conference First team, started all 27 games for the Pioneers this past season averaging team-highs of 15.9 points and 12.4 rebounds per game. She closed out the season ranked No. 5 in the nation in rebounds per game. The 6-foot senior forward shot 49 percent from the floor and 79 percent from the charity stripe. She tallied a team-best 89 steals and 69 blocks. She recorded 24 double-doubles this past season, including 14 straight double-doubles to close out the season.

Thomas was named the conference player of the week on three occasions and was also named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for the week ending Feb. 4, 2007.

She guided the Pioneers to an 18-9 overall record, an appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament and a bid to the ECAC Upstate Championships. UC finished the regular season with a 10-4 record in conference, good for a second place tie.
